Welcome!
• Introduction of executive board and advisors
• Talked about the missions statement and what TWS is about
Current Happenings:
• Dove opener at James A. Reed on Sept 1st from 2-8pm
•o Age and measurements are recorded
•o Sign up sheet posted on TWS board by Jackson's office
• Matt Bryant talked about volunteer opportunities with MDC
•o Protection volunteer applications and information are with him
•o Volunteer 8 hours minimum per month
• Mentoring program is in the works
•o Will be held in math lab on 2nd floor
• Suggestion for upcoming year?
•o Let Ryan or any executive member or advisor know
• Volunteers are needed to talk to disciplines and principle classes
• Interested in African wildlife?
•o Contact Dr. Jackson
•o Keep an eye out for an organizational meeting next week to learn more
Conferences:
• Natural Areas Conferences at Tan Tara near the end of October
•o Deals with research being done on MDC and DNR land
• National TWS conference in Utah
• Central Plains Society of Mammalogist, in Iowa
•o Oct. 15-16
Committees:
• Volunteers needed for the following committees to chair and/or be apart of:
•o Fall Festival, Bioblitz, New Member, Education, Activities and Knob Noster Trail
• Mike Cove heads the Research and Quiz Bowl committees
•o If interested, contact him

Possibilities:
• Camping/ guest speakers
• Social
• Tree coring workshop with Mr. King
• IWRC Rehab workshop
•o 2 day long workshop 19-20 of November
•o Will be held in WCM
•o Must register with them ($159.00 for non members)
•o May earn 1 credit hour; must pay registration fee to IWRC plus tuition to UCM
•o Info will be sent via listserve as the time gets closer
Fundraising:
• Fall-festival- Chili Cook Off, Duatholon, Creatures of the Night, Bed races
•o Whole Biology and Science Depart to get involved
•o Some weekend in fall

Membership dues:
Students: $5 per semester of $10 for a full year
The membership special: $15 for whole year plus a mug or Bioblitz t-shirt
Regular t-shirts on sale for $7 for members and $10 for non-members
