Our first meeting of the spring semester is today!  January 13, 2010 @ 5 PM in WCM 322.  We will be discussing best meetings times throughout the semester and should post a meeting schedule soon.  Please talk to either Jennifer Mittelhauser or myself if you would like to get involved but can't make our meetings.  Our officers would also be happy to asist.  Dr. Jackson

o   Lots to do this semester so pay your dues

·          EEC Fright Night clean-up-   Saturday February 14th, 10:00-2:00pm  -Clean-out shed and move Fright Night props out of main room -   Social (possible BBQ) to follow·          MNRC (Missouri Natural Resources Conference) -   February 4-6 at Tan-Tar-A Resort, Lake of the Ozarks -   Good to network -  Student job fair (Wednesday)  social (Wednesday night) -   TWS has 2 rooms, 1 for women, 1 for men for student useo   Student fee = $26.50  register online www.mnrc.org·          Bio-blitzo   May 2nd at Pertle Springs, 7:00-??o   Fundraising:  silent auction & raffle -   Committee sign-up – need help organizing &  Planning meeting Wednesday 28th, 5:00pm in WCM 230  Ideas for activities?·          Spring Workshop  April 4th at Wah'Kon-Tah Prairie   Networking opportunity, student chapters form other state universities in attendance  Friday night social  Saturday meals provided  Pilot project – student chapter assisted planning  "prairie" theme§  Need organizers   Camping only, no bunk house, no showers§  Hotels nearby if desiredo   Workshops – prairie chicken watching, possible prescribed burn participation, etc.·          Lakeside Nature Center   Saturday January 24th, 10:00am-12:30pm   Learn to rehabilitate and release wildlife  Volunteer hours required at LNC  $25.00 annual membership dueso   Carpool meeting at greenhouse behind WCM at 8:30 am·          Wetland mitigation update   Still waiting on MoDOT to fix ponds   To study the effects of the Blue Spring Dam on herps  Needs drift fences  Must be in by May   More info to follow at later dates·          Recycling committee  Need more members to share the load  Sign-up at TWS board·          Ralph & Martha Perry Memorial Conservation Area trailo   Gier lake (?)o   New handicap accessible dock needs trail maintenanceo   Sign-up sheet on TWS board·          Discipline of Biology  Dr. Lankford offered to have organizations to introduce themselves   Anna Junge & Kim Watson representing TWS·          GIS summer class   If enough interested, Dr. Jackson will offer GIS class over summer  Start date (approx.)
